Do you read Handmadeology?

Then you should! It's great for handmade businesses and gives lots of practical advice for your online shops (if you have them) and has some good tips for photography. I don't always follow their advice as I don't have much time to spare but you certainly should!

One of their recent posts about copycats struck a chord* with me and gives a new perspective on something that can make your heart sink. Well worth a quick read :)

*My work isn't rocket science but it still hurts when people copy it - boo to copiers who have no imagination of their own!

#imapiece

I found out about Craftivism a good few months ago by watching a video called Stitched Stories (really worth a look - you won't regret watching) and by subscribing to the blog I found out about #imapiece

So what is #imapiece? It's basically a campaign by a group of well known crafters (you included!) along with Save the Children to help raise awareness of world hunger and injustice.

Picture from @craftteaviv

Basically, you create a jigsaw piece (to be included in a large collective piece of work) with a slogan on. Dead easy! All the information you need (plus helpful slogans) is HERE and I think it is a very worthwhile project to be involved in.

You can even shop on Folksy and get a jigsaw kit sent to you :) I have only just cut out the fabric for my piece today but I know what slogan I am going to use and once I have found my special embroidery pen I will be off (despite my embroidery skills being a bit rubbish!)

If you don't have any spare time or inclination to join in with this project then can I ask you to spare one minute to sign the petition. Thanks!

Helping others

Good Morning! What a gorgeous day it is here today :) I'm not online much at the moment as I'm helping a friend to move house in not very pleasant circumstances so I am needed offline. To be honest though my blogging mojo has gone out of the window so I wouldn't be saying much anyway! Hopefully I will be back to normal (hah) next week :)

Pretty, bright envelopes - every blog post needs a picture :)

Have a good weekend and see you next week!

Crafty help for the Queensland Floods

I'm sure you are all aware of the flooding that has hit Queensland in Australia and is now spreading south into Victoria. Toni over at Make It Perfect has done a fantastic job of co-ordinating the huge list of people who have donated their crafty prowess to help. There are a very large number of auctions along with 'giveaways' and promises of portions of sales. You can check out the list here. You can also donate directly to the cause here if you would prefer.

I'm persoanlly going to enter the giveaway from Ric Rac - I want to win those cute goodies!

*This is exactly the same post that I have posted over on Cuteable today - the more eyes that see it the better!
