Skirts!

So yesterday I looked at a pattern, took it all out and then put it all back in as it was baffling (I've never used a pattern before) The pieces I had didn't even match each other so I think I may have lost some!

I then got out an old favourite 'Yeah I made it myself' by Eithne Parry.

And I made this skirt for Tara - she was very impressed!

Sorry for the blurry photographs - she just wouldn't stand still!

She was very pleased with it!

And I had just enough time to make the grown up version for me! I'll be making many many more of these I think :) It's the first item of clothing have made for me and I am very pleased with it :D

Ooooo I've got that book and haven't used it yet (only had it a year - tee hee) it's got some fab ideas in it hasn't it?? Which skirt did you do?? I'm rubbish at sewing clothes and followed a pattern only once. When I was at school I made a simple top and cut out two fronts - oops !!!

Isn't it lovely to be able to wear something that you made yourself! So much better than buying it off the rack (even from the oppy).

Congrats, well done you. Great feeling when all the effort comes together, this no doubt is just the begining.

Best wishes for a crafty 2010

These are fab - much more creative than following a boring old pattern! :D

I totally agree with you about sewing patterns! I get so exhausted trying to work them out, that I just give up and drink tea instead!

You did a great job with the skirts, just goes to show!

Lovely skirts! That book is fab, just my kind of instructions! I'm glad I'm not the only one who is confused by patterns x

Patterns only work if you're the same shape as the pattern, making your own is much more fun and accurate. Great skirt, love the appliqué!
