Twitter!

Yeah! Now I have another way to ramble on at you - Twitter! If you look on the right hand side just above the Cuteable ad you can see what I mean. It's basically a site where you can enter up to 140 characters at a time and let everyone know what you are doing in little bursts. I'd seen it around for a while but it wasn't until I saw an Etsy forum post about it that I thought seriously about it. Be warned though it is very addictive!! I have it open on one of my tabs so when I think of something to say I can write it very quickly. Some people have likened it to a mini blog. I find it useful for letting everone know when I have new things listed for sale etc :) And also to let everyone know the random things in my life!

Let me know if you join so I can look you up and follow you and obvioulsy you can follow me too :)

And no blog post would be complete without a photograph - of course it birds to keep with the twitter theme.

Here's a sneaky peek though just to keep you interested :)

My daughter is a star!

Well we already knew that but the teachers at Anya's school have decided that she is too :) She got to bring the star cushion home for doing some excellent sound and letter work. She gets to keep it overnight and then takes it back to school tomorrow and is allowed to sit on it throughout tomorrow. She is excited about sleeping with it but it is a little grubby and might stay on the end of her bed instead!

Here she is looking very proud of herself.

And of course little sis had to be in on the action too!

Tagged again!

Cor I could get used to this being popular malarkey! This tag came from Daisie.

1. Clothes shop - I can't pass a charity shop without going in to mooch around. I love second hand stuff as you never know quite what you are going to find - like a bright orange and yellow towelling dress :)

2. Furniture shop - my favourite has go to be our local auction house where we got a fantastic sideboard, wardrobes, tables etc. If I had my way all the furniture would be vintage but with kids it's not ideal! Also Ikea holds a place in my heart but I mainly go there for the fabrics!

3. Sweet - yes please!! I'm much more of a chocolate girl than a sweetie girl although I am partial to jelly beans.

4. City - I love Paris. Matt and I went there for our honeymoon and we are hoping to go back for our tenth (yep it's gone that quickly!) wedding anniversary next year. Brussels is also lovely.

5. Drink - fruit tea. Love them, especially blackberry and nettle. Also partial to the odd glass of white wine and a vodka and lemonade now and then.

6. Music - I have very eclectic tastes and like most types of music except dance/trance/hip hop/rap. I'm a Radio 2 girl (especially the music played by Radcliffe and Maconie) and listen to what they play mostly but I do like The Offspring, Dolly Parton (!) and any musical!

7. TV Series - I don't any tv during the week as I listen to the radio instead. At the weekend we watch things that we have recorded like Dr Who, Ugly Betty, Heroes and Torchwood (and not just for Jack and Ianto!)

8. Film - The best film ever written has got to be 12 Angry Men although it is closley followed by The Shawshank Redemption. I also like fluff though and regulary watch Charlies Angels and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

9. Workout - I used to run (well only for a few weeks) but due to being overweight and not used to exercise I knackered my knees. I'm going to usethe time until Septemeber to get fitter and loose a bit of weight and then I can start running again. Then I will have 2 and a half hours free as Tara will be at nursery and we don't have to invest in another jogging buggy :)

10. Coffee - yuck!

That took up a lot more time than I thought (due mainly to searching for pictures of Jack and Ianto from Torchwood!) See you tomorrow!

On my desk....on a Wednesday

Well I know I promised you piccies of envelopes and thank you cards yesterday but they will just have to wait for tomorrow as it's on my desk Wednesday today :)

As you can see I have my painting and glueing things out. I'm working on some mixed media things at the moment and that's what the glue and paint is for. Also the scissors and the remnants of a 1913 novel. And can you see that my desk is still fairly tidy - I'm quite pleased with myself it's just a pity that the rest of the room isn't tidy!

And it's a good job I love this little one so much too. I nipped downstairs to wash out my brush (craft room is in the attic) and gave Tara explicit instructions not to touch anything on my desk. She was happily playing with one of Ethel's tea bags and my teacup so I thought I was safe! Hah! I came back up to find that she had taken some stickers off one of the cards Anya made and helpfully stuck them on the boards I'd just covered in paint! Good job I love her :)

Housekeeping

This was the view from my kitchen window this morning at 7am (well partially - I had to go out in my 'jama's to snap these). Very pretty sky I thought.

The last one gives an idea of what would happen later - it rained of course and it's still raining now! Oh well - it was pretty at 7 this morning!

The housekeeping in the title is what I am going to be doing today. Actual housekeeping will feature (I'm scaring myself as I did some on Sunday too!) and crafty housework. Things like punching tag shapes into the mountain of old cereal packets etc that is on my coffee table, making lots more bubble envelopes and some more thank you cards are needed too. If you are lucky you might get to see these things tomorrow :) I know you can't wait!

Presents

Some friends of mine recently had a baby boy so I put together this basket of goodies for them. Lots of toiletries that will be practical for little Luke and a rattle for keeping him entertained! I also got my very talented sister to make a blanket for him (she crochets wonderful blankets) to keep him nice and warm in his pram.

I also made them this card too - I used one of Ruth's toppers and then added a few little extras.

This is......

....my favourite kitchen gadget. The humble breadmaker!

It gets used a lot in this house - we make all our bread with it (well apart from last week when I just had to have tiger bread from Asda!) The thing I love most about it is that you can set a timer so that the bread will be finished at a particular time - it's lovely to wake up to the smell of freshly baked bread on a morning. In fact I am going to put some on in a minute before bed!

I couldn't do a post about kitchen gadgets and not include Walter the washing machine :) He is a very clever washing machine and tells me when the coin trap needs emptying or the inlet pipe is blocked.

Tagged!

Right I have been tagged by the lovely Sarah and I'm going to try and think of 7 random facts that you don't already know about me!

1. I really don't like jelly. Yep the stuff that all kids want to eat and I can't stand the stuff! Luckily my lovely hubby likes it and makes it with the girls so I don't have to.

2. I love my kids very much but I really don't want any more children. I don't yearn for more children like some other women do - more children just aren't for me but I don't criticise others for wanting lots or no children. Before I had children I wanted 6 (!) but having had 2 then I know that's my limit :) Obviously now is the time for a picture of my gorgeous girls!

3. My spelling is atrocious! I rely heavily on spell check and if I am writing something and can't find the correct spelling then I will reword the whole sentence! And yes I used to be a primary school teacher!

4. I am a very messy person naturally - my house always looks like a bomb has hit it and to be honest I don't mind it. I am trying to keep my craft room tidy at the moment so that I actually have space to do things though! Obviously I would be happy living in a tidy house but I can't afford a cleaner so messy it will have to stay :)

5. Gosh this is hard! Ermm I like clothes but they tend to be the clothes that no one else likes in the charity shops and I get odd looks for buying them and also wearing them. Even though I had low self esteem as a teenager (and who didn't!) I really don't care what anyone thinks anymore.

6. I'm very happy with my life at the moment. Yes I could be thinner, have more money etc etc but I have a wonderful husband, two gorgeous girls and a lovely (but messy!) house. I have the opportunity to run my own business and I love it! Yes I wish there were more time in the day but I do alright :)

7. This post has taken me nearly an hour to write because I'm helping Anya to play on Strawberry Shortcake on the DS too! It's a tough life :)

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I don't know if you know but October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and over on Cuteable I am doing a themed post every day. If you have any pink things to share then email them to me at contact AT cuteable DOT com and I will do my very best to feature them :) Just put pink somewhere in the title so that I can tag it accordingly. And of course here is some of my pink :)
