I need some advice!

My product photographs could really be better and I've been spending quite a bit of time over the past few weeks thinking and planning what to do with them to make them better. The light box wasn't really working for the chicken doorstops so I have come up with a few new locations - I would like to to tell me which one (if any) you like.

This is the original one that wasn't working too well :)

This is a boring one but it's a plain wall behind!

I really really like this one (once I've chopped the dead bits off the plant to the right!) but it's not a door and I'm not sure how important it is to show him standing against a door?

And here he is standing against a door - I like this one too although I had to become a contortionist to get the photograph!

Please let me know your views! Also I have been told for a while now (by various people) that I should put up the prices of my gift tags. I'm not so sure but would love to hear what you think. They are currently £1 for a pack of 10 which is US$2 per pack. What would you pay for a pack of 10 handmade gift tags? Please be honest too :)

the last two are the best!

I like the third shot. But if I may suggest, if you would like to shot against the door, maybe you could shot at a wider angle so the viewers can see what it would looks like against the door. Maybe take at least half the height of the door.

I actually like number 2 the best.

With the gift tags - I'm trying to think of the Aussie conversion rate and then go backwards. I would definitely pay at least $4 Australian (keep in mind that I am an absolute cheapskate) which is 2.06 pounds at todays rate.

Don't think the chicks need to be next to a door necessarily and I quite like the dead plant accessory!

The tags are too cheap for the amount of time that you put into them. I know that the materials are recycled and inexpensive to aquire but you take an age to make them so lovely. People will pay more because they have been made with love and care and are unique. At a huge uk high street store (dare I call them Marks and Expensive here?) you would pay more than £1 for one 'handmade' tag and every other well off lady would be using the same one!

At least twice as much per pack and maybe offer smaller packs aswell?

I like the last pic best, despite it being tricky to take. Could you maybe find a small 'door' (aka cupboard with door) that you could use instead? Would save you having to lie on the floor to take pics. I like the plant pic too, could you use the door pic as the main photo, and have the plant pic as an extra?

I like the window pic, after all he could be used to hold open a window too, or as has been suggested how about a cupboard door? The tags are far too cheap, I think either 5 or 6 for a £1 would be better.

Your photos are lovely and clear. I like the one on the windowsill best - I think it's quite nice to see products in a location, you could take one of him on the kitchen table beside a carton of eggs!

I would charge £2 for 10, at the least, for the tags - they're a quality product :)

She would be adorable sitting on a nest (use hay or raffia). Obviously I don't think a door is needed. the last two are the best

The last two look great - I have the same problem with trying to take photos of my stuff too. He is super cute!

The door makes sense but I do like the windowsill one!

Regarding the gift tags, i reckon you could easily double the price and still be offering good value :-)

I like the last photo the best. It's all about the chicken, (and if I'm looking to buy something, I want a clear picture)I do like the windowsill one aswell, but I think all the items around it detract from your product a little. Perhaps you could crop in slightly?
Tags I would pay around £2 for, but maybe for less than 10? (5/6)

I like the last 2 most :)

Hi Lynsey
Love the photo where the cheeky chicken is peering around the plant. My photos are pants, I really need to spend some more time on them.
I think you underprice your tags too. I'd certainly pay between 2 and 3 pound for them. Having received some from you they are excellent quality but not only that even though they are recycled, you have to factor in your time, they are fiddly critters to make :) (so I have learnt this week :)

PS me again, I put some tags my misi shop yesterday and they are £2 for 5, they took me that blardy long to make I felt like pricing them at twenty quid - grrrr

I like the last shot.

As for the gift tags, all I know is that everytime I open your blog and see your header, I fall in love all over again with those chicken gift tags on book pages. I mean, I REALLY love them.

I like number two, but 3 would would well if you could see more of the door :)

I like the bottom one :) Doesn't detract from the item itself, but is better than the plain white background!

Bottom picture. Definitely.
Price is great! I think almost everyone cuts themselves short when it comes to beautiful hand crafts. People just don't understand the talent, love, and time it takes to make amazing things! But once you figure it out, you'll aways think the artist deserves more.

I like the two in the middle - the 2nd one (boring!) shows the product almost in use, very well, while the plant one is just great. :)

Gift tags - you could definitely put them up a bit!

I definitely like the picture with the plants - I'm all for "dressing" product photos! I like the close-up perspective of the last shot though - maybe you could use the plants and window sill location but with the doorstop taking up more of the picture?
