My little sweetheart!

At Anya's school they have two cushion boxes - one is a star box and one is a heart box. Your name goes into the star box if you have tried really hard at something and your name goes into the heart box if you do something very kind. Teachers then pick a name out in the special cushion assembly they have each week (not sure how random it is but there you go!) Anya had a star cushion last term for her sounding out and got the heart cushion a week or so ago for helping one of the dinner ladies search for her lost earring. As you can see she is very pleased - and it's really nice as all the other mums and dads waiting to pick children up make a big fuss of whoever got the cushion that week :) The children then take it home for the night and the following day are allowed to sit on it throughout the day and are made to feel special. She really was thrilled!

It's nice they reward kindness. My school gave you gold stars to wear on your jumper for academic success and I remember wanting one but never seemed to get it right; When my mum found out she just bought me a pack of these gold stars.

That's a lovely idea! They used to give out house points at my school which were totalled up at the end of the week to see which of the 4 houses won, but I much prefer the squishy cushion reward!
