Apologies for the swearing - some of the above broke into our house last night and stole Matt's wallet and my laptop. Little ****s! SoI won't be around for a few days while we sort things out.

A buttontastic present

My friend Alex likes buttons so when it was her birthday this week I knew I had to have a button theme.

First I made a bottle of buttons topped with some pretty flowers that will never fade.

A pretty button box (bought from a Folksy seller via ebay for the Sue Ryder charity auction but I can't remember who!) that was filled with these; EDIT - it's this lovely lady :)

Shortbread button biscuits! I got the idea from here but used my own recipe.

All packaged up in this pretty bag.

And topped off with this cute button card from Ruth.

My Creative Space

I started early in my creative space this morning making these cakes - they look a little flat because I wanted to ice them.

Note to self - buy a decent icing set before attempting this again - they came out ok but I had lots of icing oooozing through the bag all over my hands (it was a kids one the girls had got for Christmas!)

I have also been making shortbread but I can't show you the finished items as they are for a birthday gift. Photo's tomorrow when the presents have been delivered!

I am continuing my gift tag re-stocking and it is very boring! I am getting on with it but they take a long time to make from scratch. I only have 88 sets (880 tags) to go! Wish me luck!!!

Me on a Monday morning!

I don't look too bad do I? Other than being a bit blurry!

The girls took these photos of me on Monday morning - I had the camera in the bathroom to take photo's of the tulips and they wanted to play photographer! Top photo by Anya, bottom one by Tara.

There will hopefully be a crafty post tomorrow - I am slowly working my way through restocking some gift tags and you don't really want to see endless shots of chicken, robin, robot and bluetit gift tags do you? I'm hoping to list some things this afternoon so you might get something crafty tomorrow :)

My Place and Yours - Pink

The heavens must have aligned for me post wise this week as the post I had planned yesterday for today was about the tulips I received for Mother Day on Sunday (confused yet?) It works very well for the theme over at Hello Owl for My Place and Yours which is pink.

These are my favourite pink things at the moment - tulips in my bathroom. I have taken a liking to spreading flowers around the house as it brings unexpected colour and scent to the unlikeliest places.

The bottle are vintage and were bought in a job lot from a local auction house. The little one is only about 2 inches high and held teething powder at one stage. The larger one is from a hotel named The Brierley Hotel but I have no idea what it would have held.

A lovely Mothers Day

We had hoped for a lie in yesterday but Tara was awake at 6.30 and went through to wake her sister! However after them both coming to say hello they did play in Anya's room until 7.30. I got these lovely gifts handmade by the girls (handmade gifts are the best)

Tara made me this Kokeshi doll at nursery for me - she had to choose a yellow dress as this is her favourite colour!

Anya drew this picture for me and it says Mummy I Love You! Ahhhhhh :)

She also made me this card with a bunch of flowers on the front. It has a beautiful rhyme in it too.

It reads Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, If Mummy's were flowers I would pick you. That made me shed a tear - I'm such a wuss!

I also got some tulips too but more on that tomorrow!

Richard Scarry love

We got a little happy with Richard Scarry in out house last night when I listed these two sets of recycled envelopes in my Folksy and Etsy shops.


I have 3 sets of stickers to list soon which are also made from this Richard Scarry book - I'll let you know when they are up :)

My very own Rolley Monkey!!!! I won the giveaway at Claires Crafty Blog and she sent me a Rolley Monkey as well as all this gorgeous stuff - I'm a very lucky lady :)

Matt wasn't left out though and got this very cool card for his birthday from my fabulous sister. It's all of us in Bumble (our camper van). Don't we all look happy :) Thanks Sarah - Matt loves it!

The cake!

Matt loves Star Wars and I knew that for one of his birthdays I would have to make him a Star Wars cake - so I did!

This is the scene where Obi Wan and Darth Vader (although only the Emperor call him that at this stage) are fighting on the volcanic planet Mustafar. Obi Wan taunts him by still calling him Anakin and he gets a little annoyed at that! The land breaks up and reveals the lava beneath and R2 D2 watches from a platform. I like to think that the hill is where Vader falls when he is mortally injured and the Emperor finds him - heck it's my cake so that IS the hill!

Creative Space

It's the Mr's birthday tomorrow so I will mainly be in the kitchen today making up a version of a cake I have seen online. I hope it works out as it has lots of steps!

If not he has said he is quite happy to eat the frosting out of the tub using the chocolate fingers! If it works then I will be back tomorrow showing it off - if not expect an arty photograph of chocolate fingers and frosting :)
